OHSAA Board of
Directors Update –
October 8, 2009
The Board of Directors of the Ohio High School
Athletic Association met Thursday at the OHSAA office in Columbus
for its October meeting. Listed below are the highlights from the
meeting. The complete set of meeting minutes will be posted in their
entirety at OHSAA.org.

The
Board approved Shawnee Lanes in Chillicothe as the state tournament
site for the girls and boys bowling championships March 5-6.

The
Board approved the 2010 winter sports tournament regulations for
girls and boys basketball, bowling, gymnastics, ice hockey, girls
and boys swimming and diving and wrestling. The tournament
regulations will be posted on each sport’s page at OHSAA.org. School
administrators and coaches should review these regulations,
especially the representation to the state tournaments in each
sport.

The
draw was held for the ice hockey state tournament, which will take
place at Nationwide Arena in Columbus March 13-14. The Brooklyn and
Kent district winners will meet in the first semifinal game,
followed by the winners of the Sylvania and Columbus districts in
the second semifinal game. Game times are TBA.

The
Board voted to implement the plan to reorganize the District
Officials Committees. A Board subcommittee has been working on the
plan for some time and gathered input from each of the OHSAA’s six
districts.

The
Board’s Hall of Fame subcommittee recommended to the Board that
former Zanesville Bishop Rosecrans three-sport standout Susan Nash
Sugar be nominated for National Federation of State High School
Association’s Hall of Fame

The
American Dairy Association, a new corporate partner of the OHSAA,
made a presentation to the Board. Chocolate Milk is the official
beverage of the OHSAA.
