Maty Mauk Passes Peers into National Record Book
Kenton quarterback to enter NFHS record book for most career passing yards and touchdowns

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Maty Mauk, senior quarterback from Kenton High School, recently completed his high school football career in early December. Mauk, a four-year starter, set five national high school football records during his time as the signal caller for the Wildcats. The records include national career passing yards (18,932), national career touchdown passes (219), national career passing attempts (2,110), national career pass completions (1,353) and national career total yards from scrimmage (22,681).

Kenton, in conjunction with the Ohio High School Athletic Association, has submitted Mauk’s career statistics and accomplishments to the National Federation of State High School Associations for approval.

En route to setting two national marks, career passing yards and career total yards from scrimmage, Mauk eclipsed his brother, and former Kenton quarterback from 1999-2002, Ben’s own national records.

Mauk finished the 2011 season with 7,181 total yards and 92 touchdowns. The Wildcat quarterback completed 382 of 566 passes for 5,413 yards and 68 touchdowns while rushing 241 times for 1,768 yards and 24 touchdowns on the way to being named 2011 Mr. Football in Ohio by the Associated Press. Kenton was Ohio’s Division IV state runner-up, falling to Creston Norwayne 48-42 in the championship game.

Mauk finished his career at Kenton with an overall record of 42-8 as starting quarterback.
