OHSAA Extends Partnership with Wilson Football

Association to continue partnership with Wilson as the official football supplier

Columbus, Ohio Beginning in 2010, the Ohio High School Athletic Association will extend its current partnership with Wilson Sporting Goods Co. by five years to continue as the official football supplier of the OHSAA.

Wilson has been involved with the OHSAA since 2002 and off the field is extending the relationship by becoming involved with OHSAA student-based programs such as student leadership conferences and scholarship support for student-athlete academic achievements.

In addition, Wilson will be involved with the OHSAA’s First Friday program, which promotes prostate cancer awareness and takes place on one of the first Fridays of each football season.

“We have a great relationship with Wilson and are pleased that it is growing,” said OHSAA Commissioner Dr. Dan Ross. “We look forward to sitting down with Wilson this summer to talk in more detail about their involvement with a few of our programs that have such a positive impact on our student-athletes. We’re also pleased to be working with a company that has a football factory in Ada, which has a positive economic impact on that community and our state.”

As part of the agreement, the Wilson F1003GST football will be the official football of the OHSAA tournaments and the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association.

“Wilson and especially the 150 employees of our Ada, Ohio, football factory are extremely excited to extend this relationship,” said Chris Considine, President of Wilson Sports Good Co. “Wilson and the OHSAA are excited about the opportunity to continue to positively impact the lives of student-athletes in our home state.”

“We would like to thank Wilson and the Ada football factory for being a great supporter of Ohio high school football,” said Mike Richards, President of the OHSAA Board of Directors and superintendent of Allen East Local Schools. “I know that the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association is pleased that the relationship is not only continuing, but also expanding to include initiatives such as scholarships and First Friday. It’s truly a win-win situation.”
