2009 Basketball Rules Interpretation Meetings Cancelled

With the increased effort to communicate with coaches via their Coaches’ Clinic, as well as the few number of Rule Changes by the NFHS (2), the decision was made to cancel the BASKETBALL RULES INTERPRETATION Meetings for this year.  Meetings were scheduled to begin at Meadowbrook High School in Byesville and Mentor High School on Tuesday, October 6.  These meetings will NOT be held and attendance at Rules Interpretation Meetings will NOT be required for this year.

The Pre-Season Manual for basketball coaches and officials was expanded this year to cover many additional items and the two Rule Changes in Basketball for 2009-10 have no bearing on coaching or officiating, but are administrative items for management of the State Tournament.

Additionally, electronic media will be used and information communicated to Officials via their required FOUR local meetings every OFFICIAL must attend.

As you know, we have required schools to submit their coaches’ contact information in the myOHSAA Data Management system and those email addresses will be used to also communicate this directly to them.  Additionally, an email is being sent to school Principals to insure this notification.

We hope this allows coaches ‘one less night out’, while we are confident information necessary for them has or will be communicated more efficiently.

As always, thank you for your assistance.
