Semifinal Game #1
UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio- Columbus Academy (17-2-0) defeated Shaker Heights (14-5-1) 2-0 in the first semifinal game of the 2017 OHSAA state field hockey tournament Friday at Upper Arlington High School.
 
After a scoreless first half, the Vikings brought in the first point of the game in the second half from senior Maddie DeAscentis assisted by Mercedes Crestanello with 10:01 remaining. The second point was scored by Kiersten Thomassey with 7:36 remaining in the second half.

Semifinal Game #2
UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio- Thomas Worthington defeated Cincinnati Mount Notre Dame 7-1 in the second semifinal game of the 2017 OHSAA state field hockey tournament Friday at Upper Arlington High School.
 
Thomas Worthington Junior, Althea Chan brought in the first point of the game with an assist by Mollie Estepp with 27:26 on the clock. The Cardinals went on to score 5 more times in the first half.
 
Mount Notre Dame had a scoreless first half but Rachel Harmon helped by making a point with 17:01 left in the second half. Mount Notre Dame set a record for saves in a game, having 16 from goalie Amanda Benz.
 
Attack Sarah Charley gave the Cardinals their last point of the game with 00:11 left on the clock earning herself a record for individual goals in a game. The Cardinals also set a record for shots on goal in a game having 23.

Championship Game
UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio- What started out as a cold day, turned into a beautiful one for Thomas Worthington as they defeated Columbus Academy 1-0.
 
Freshman Bella Avila, made the first point of the game with an assist by Maya McDaniel with 11:10 left in the first half. The second half was scoreless for Columbus Academy allowing Thomas Worthington to take home the state championship trophy.
 
This marks the third consecutive state championship for the Cardinals.
