BOYS SOCCER STATE TOURNAMENTS
Division II: Junior striker Marc Burch scored two goals, junior
midfielder Jason Seibert added another and junior Mike Vessells recorded a shutout in goal
as No. 2-ranked Cincinnati Turpin (19-2-2) defeated 7th-ranked Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit
4-0 in the championship. Turpin is now two-for-two in championship matches after also
winning the title in 1986 when it also defeated Walsh. The Spartans’ first goal came
when a Walsh defender headed the ball off his own goalie’s leg and into the net.
Turpin reached the finals by defeating Columbus St. Francis DeSales 4-2 in the semifinals
at Centerville, while Walsh was a 2-0 semifinal winner over Richfield Revere at Cuyahoga
Valley Christian Academy
