Cincinnati High School Football
Rivalries, Championships &
Legends: Celebrating 100 Years of Cincinnati High School
Football
Southwest Ohio
has been synonymous with football success and passionate fans
for more than 100 years. Boasting 179 schools that have
combined for more than 30 state titles since 1972 (including
five of the past seven Division I state champions), Cincinnati
has been a hot bed for high school gridiron accolades.
To honor the
outstanding Cincinnati high school football teams and players
from the past century, the Public Library of Cincinnati and
Hamilton County (Main Library) will be hosting the Rivalries,
Championships & Legends Exhibit through Sunday, January 24.
The exhibit
will display an original composite of the excitement and
pageantry that has comprised Cincinnati football over the past
century, including a showcase of memorabilia that has been
collected from local athletic departments, alumni associations,
and the Library’s own resources. Additionally, the exhibit pays
tribute to local players who went on to have distinguished
playing careers, such as two-time Super Bowl champion
quarterback Roger Staubach.
All are welcome
and invited to pay tribute and bask in the glory that these
notable athletes, coaches, and programs have given to the
greater Cincinnati community over the years. The Main Library’s
hours are 9:00am-9:00pm Monday-Wednesday; 9:00am-6:00pm
Thursday-Saturday; and 1:00pm-5:00pm Sunday. The exhibit will
be on display through Sunday, January 24th.
