The following information was prepared to
assist you with your coverage of the upcoming OHSAA state winter sports tournaments.
Please contact Bob Goldring at the OHSAA (e-mail: bgoldring@ohsaa.org;
phone: 614-267-2502, ext. 116; fax: 614-267-1677) should you have further questions.
WRESTLING
POLICIES:
1.) The person who photographs for the school,
whether it be for the school newspaper, yearbook or other, MUST BE A STUDENT. No adults
will be provided a temporary photo credential.
2.) The
student photographer must purchase a ticket for the state tournament.
3.) A letter must be faxed to the OHSAA
Office from the Athletic Administrator no later than 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22,
indicating the name of the student photographer that is interested in photographing the
wrestler(s) from your school. Send the letter to the attention of Brenda Murray,
Coordinator of Web Site and Publications. The OHSAA fax number is 614-267-1677. NOTE A.:
If a letter is not received at the OHSAA Office before that deadline, the student
photographer must still purchase a ticket and must attend the tournaments with a letter in
hand signed by the Athletic Administrator. NOTE B.: A list of those schools approved for a
temporary photo credential will be posted on the OHSAA web site (www.ohsaa.org) no later
than 4:00 Wednesday, February 23. In the left-hand column of the home page, click on
Media/News Releases, and you will be able to find the list in that section.
4.) Before a wrestler he or she is covering
is about to wrestle, the student photographer must report to Value City Arenas Fred
Taylor Room, which is located on the Entry Level just off of the Northeast Rotunda.
5.) If a letter from the athletic
administrator is on file or brought in person, the student will be issued a TEMPORARY
PHOTO CREDENTIAL that can be used to admit the student photographer matside to photograph
the wrestler he or she is covering only. The student will be required to sign in, will be
given additional instructions and will be told to return the temporary photo credential to
the Fred Taylor Room when they are finished shooting the wrestler(s) from your school.
6.) Because of space limitations, each
school will be permitted to request a maximum of one
(1) TEMPORARY PHOTO CREDENTIAL for a student photographer. There shall be no exceptions.
7.) No
tripods or spotlights for cameras are permitted.
8.) Violators
of these policies are subject to a minimum penalty of removal from the arena for the
remainder of the tournaments. The passing of these credentials to another person is
strictly prohibited.
Please note that other fans will be
permitted to take photos or videotape from their seats (no tripods, no monopods, no
blocking of aisles, etc.), and they may shoot individual matches (no permanent standing)
from Entry Level sections 105 and 121. Also, following the official awards ceremony, all
place winners will be taken to the Auxiliary Gym in the Schottenstein Center where fans
may photograph the place winners on an awards stand. In addition, 20-20 Photographic, the
official photographer of the OHSAA, will be taking awards stand and action photographs.
Orders can be placed at www.20-20photo.com or by calling 1-888-420-2074.
Thank you for your cooperation in this
matter!
