2013 OHSAA Bowling State Championships Media Information

The following information has been prepared to assist you with your coverage of the upcoming OHSAA state bowling tournament. Please contact Tim Stried (tstried@ohsaa.org or 614-267-2502, ext. 124) at the OHSAA office should you have additional questions. Previews and additional information will be posted on the OHSAA web site the week of each state tournament.

DATES: Friday, March 1 (girls) and Saturday, March 2 (boys)

LOCATION: Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl (3224 South High Street, Columbus, OH 43207; 614-491-7155; www.bowlcolumbus.com)

YOUR HOSTS: Boys tournament manager Greg Coulles and girls tournament manager Kyle Wilson will be available to assist the media along with Roxanne Price, the OHSAA assistant commissioner who oversees bowling.

TIMES AND FORMAT: Girls competition will take place on Friday and the boys competition on Saturday. Team qualifying rounds and individual competition will begin at 11:00 a.m. each day, while team championship rounds will start at 4:15 p.m.

PARKING: Media parking is on a first-come, first-served basis around the facility. There are no media parking passes.

MEDIA CREDENTIALS: There is no media application form for the bowling state tournaments, as advance registration is not required. Media shall show their company identification at the entrance to the bowling center to receive a media packet.

FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY PROHIBITED: Flash photography is not permitted at any time during the bowling state tournament except prior to warm-ups and between rounds and during trophy presentations

MEDIA WORK AREA: A media work area is available. Wireless internet access is available in the facility.

PHOTOGRAPHS AVAILABLE: Rather than sending a stringer, media outlets needing photographs from a state tournament are encouraged to contact the OHSAA’s official photographer, Impact Action Sports Photography. Their website is www.impactactionphotos.com (click on the media request form). The contacts are Joe Maiorana (photojoe2707@yahoo.com) and Ben Barnes (barnziben@gmail.com). Coaches, school staff, freelance photographers and parents of competitors are not permitted to receive media credentials. Media outlets found to be in violation are subject to reduced access at future OHSAA state tournaments.
