State Tournament Media Credential Information
The following
information was prepared to assist you with your coverage of the upcoming OHSAA fall
sports state tournaments. Please contact Bob
Goldring (bgoldring@ohsaa.org, or 614-267-2502, ext. 116) or Brenda Kyre Murray
(bkyre@ohsaa.org, or 614-267-2502, ext. 120) at the OHSAA office should you have
additional questions. Previews and additional information will be posted on the OHSAA
web site (www.ohsaa.org) the week of each state tournament.
DATE: Saturday, Nov. 3, Scioto Downs, Columbus
LOCATION: Scioto Downs is located 6000 S. High Street, Columbus 43207. From the
I-270 outerbelt south of Columbus, take the State Route 23 (High St.) exit south. Follow
State Route 23 for approximately five miles and you will see Scioto Downs on the left.
TIMES AND FORMAT: 11:05-Girls Division III; 11:50-Girls Division II; 12:35-Girls
Division I; 1:20-Boys Division III; 2:05-Boys Division II; 2:50-Boys
Division I. All six races are 5,000 meters. Teams and individuals will qualify for the
tournaments at their respective regional tournaments Oct. 27. Four teams from each of the
four regional tournaments (16 total teams) will qualify in each division. Individuals not
on a qualifying team who finish in the top 16 positions will also qualify in each
division.
CREDENTIALS: Fax in your request form to Bob Goldring at the OHSAA office
(614-267-1677) as soon as you know that you will be covering the state tournament. If you
do not know your plans now, fax in your request as soon as possible following the
conclusion of the regional tournaments. The deadline to request credentials is 12:00
noon on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Credentials will be held for pickup in the southwest corner of
Scioto Downs (media entrance).
PARKING: Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis in lots around the facility.
CREDENTIAL CONFIRMATION: The OHSAA will post a list on its web site of those media
members who have requested and been approved for credentials. The list will be posted by
2:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 1. Once you access the web site (www.ohsaa.org), the list can
be found under the OHSAA News and Media dropdown box.
WORK SPACE/TELEPHONES/INTERVIEWS: The media work area is located at the north end
of the North Club. There may be patrons using the south end of the area. The only
telephone available at the facility is a pay phone. Cords from this phone cannot be
disconnected and plugged into your laptop computer. Unfortunately, you will have to make
arrangements to file your story elsewhere. Media credentials will allow reporters to
interview participants and coaches on the infield immediately following each race.
RESULTS: Results will be posted on the OHSAA web site (www.ohsaa.org) as soon as
possible following the tournament.

Oehrtman and OHSAA Assistant Commissioner Steve Neil, the Associations administrator
