2.)    State Tournament Media Credential Information

DATES: Saturday, and Sunday, March 8 and 9
LOCATION: Nationwide Arena (200 W. Nationwide Blvd., Columbus)
DIRECTIONS: The arena is located on the north side of downtown Columbus. For specific directions, go to the following address on the Columbus Blue Jackets’ web site (www.nationwidearena.com/directions).
TIMES AND FORMAT: Semifinals on Saturday will begin at 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. The championship game on Sunday will begin at 6:30 p.m.
CREDENTIAL REQUESTS: Fax your request form to Bob Goldring at the OHSAA office (614-267-1677) as soon as you know you will be covering the state tournament. If you do not know your plans now, fax in your request as soon as possible following the conclusion of district tournament action. The deadline to submit credential application requests is noon on Tuesday, March 4. The OHSAA will post a list on its web site of those media members who have requested and been approved for credentials. The list will be posted by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5. Once you access the web site (www.ohsaa.org), the list can be found under the “OHSAA News & Media” dropdown box.
PARKING: Media parking is available in the Nationwide Garage, located on the south side of the arena on Front St. Because neither the arena nor the Blue Jackets control the parking lots or garages, there will be a nominal parking charge per day. To look at a map of all parking garages in the area, go to the following address on the Columbus Blue Jackets’ web site (www.nationwidearena.com/directions/parking.html).
CREDENTIAL PICK UP: Credentials will be held at the media pass gate, which is located at the Tower Entrance located on the south side of Nationwide Arena at the corner of Nationwide Blvd. and Front St.
WORK AREA: Media members will be permitted to remain in the press box after each contest to write and file stories.
TELEPHONES: Telephones will be provided for collect, credit card or toll-free calls only. Use is on a first-come, first-served basis.
BROADCAST INFORMATION: There is no OHSAA rights fee charge for radio stations to broadcast the games. Stations interested in broadcasting must request credentials through the OHSAA and also contact Russ Mollohan with the Blue Jackets (614-246-4304) to review setup and details. SportsTime Ohio will be televising the finals live. Other stations may televise either of the state semifinals on a tape-delayed basis and must contact the OHSAA to negotiate a rights fee. There may be additional fees assessed by the arena (park and power fees and transmission fees). If approved by the OHSAA, the OHSAA will issue credentials, and Russ Mollohan must be contacted to review setup and details.
YOUR HOSTS: Ryan Mulcrone and Mike Schwartz from the Columbus Blue Jackets’ Communications Department will be available to assist you along with tournament managers Gordy Haggard and J.D. Kershaw of the Blue Jackets and Steve Neil, the OHSAA assistant commissioner who oversees ice hockey.

From the North Take I-71 South to the Spring St. exit (left hand exit, exit #109C). Turn right at the end of the exit ramp and onto Spring St. (West). Proceed West to Fourth St. Make a right at Fourth St. and proceed North to Chestnut St. Make a left at Chesnut St. and proceed to the Event Parking. From the South Take I-71 North and merge with I-70 East to the Front St. exit. Turn left at the Front St. intersection and proceed North. Proceed North on Front St. to Event Parking. From the East Take I-70 West to the 4th St. exit (US 23 North, exit # 100B). Continue going straight off the exit ramp onto Fulton St. (West). When Fulton end, turn right onto Front St. (North). Proceed North on Front St. to Event Parking. From the West Take I-70 East to the West Broad St. exit (US 40, exit #97). Turn left at West Broad St. (East). Proceed East to Front St. Turn left onto Front St. (North). Proceed North on Front St. to Event Parking.
