OHSAA BOYS STATE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENTS
TO BE HELD AS SCHEDULED

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The 2003 Ohio High School Athletic Association Boys State Basketball Tournaments will be held as scheduled on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Ohio State’s Value City Arena, OHSAA Commissioner Clair Muscaro has announced. The decision to postpone the tournaments would be made by homeland security and/or state or city government officials, the Commissioner said.

“Continuing on with our tournament, we believe, will be a positive step during a difficult time in our country,” Muscaro said. “While we recognize the serious nature of war, we can and will continue to exhibit support for our troops and our nation.

“In many communities, high school athletic events bring people together in a unified manner, and we feel that is important right now. We recognize that not everyone will agree with this decision, but we feel that it’s best to carry on with normalcy as much as possible.”

Action in the 81st annual tournaments begins Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with a Division IV semifinal. The other Division IV semifinal and the two Division III semifinal games follow. Semifinals in Divisions II and I will be held Friday, while championship games in all four divisions will be held Saturday.
