2008 State Swimming & Diving Tournament

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR COACHES WITH QUALIFIERS

1.       Coaches Packet
Diving coaches’ packets can be picked up at the C.T. Branin Natatorium on Wednesday, February 20, 2008. 
Swimming packets will be distributed from the main lobby of Natatorium Gymnasium from 7:30 am – 9:00 pm on Thursday, February 21 and on Friday, February 22 from 7:30 am – 1:00 pm at the Natatorium Ticket Office.  Completed expense form will be required to obtain these materials (enclosed).

2.       Mandatory Coaches Meeting - Thursday, February 21 at 8:00 P.M. at the new C.T. Branin Natatorium Gymnasium.  All coaches or school representatives are requested to be present at the meeting.  Coaches with a qualifying relay team must attend.  Coaches are required to submit completed relay cards at this meeting.

3.       Submission of Diving List – Shall be submitted on Wednesday,February 20 at 7:00 P.M. but no later than two hours before competition.

4.       Coaches Pass - Each head coach will receive one pass for having one to five qualifiers; two passes for six to ten qualifiers and three passes for 11 or more qualifiers.  A relay team counts as four qualifiers.

5.       Contestant Pass - Each qualifying swimmer and diver will receive a contestant admittance and deck pass.  Each will need the pass for warm-up swimming and admission on Friday and Saturday.  The pass is for all-sessions and must be displayed on all competitors during competition.

6.       School Representatives - The head coach officially listed with the OHSAA for swimming is the school representative.  If another is to serve as school representative, this must be submitted in writing to the state tournament manager.

7.       Swimming Warm-Up by District (Competition Pool) – Thursday, February 21
The Branin Natatorium will be available for practice during the following times:

6:00 am – 8:45 am

All Districts

 

12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

NE – Competition Pool

NW – Shallow End

1:00 pm – 2:00 pm

NW – Competition Pool

NE – Shallow End

5:00 pm – 6:00 pm

SW – Competition Pool

C – Shallow End

6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

C – Competition Pool

SW – Shallow End

The practice swimming schedules by districts will be supervised by the District Vice-Presidents of the OHS Swimming Coaches Association.  It is their responsibility to see that only teams from their area are using the pool at the designated times.

Swim teams will not be permitted to warm up in the pool on Wednesday, February 20.

8.       Diving Warm-Up - Wednesday, February 20 from 3:00 P.M. – 10:00 P.M.

9.   Tournament Procedures

     A.   All swimmers for each event should report to the Clerk's Area by the diving boards upon instructions from the announcer.

B.      No swimmers or coaches should be on the pool deck, defined as sides and ends of the pool, or bullpen where tournament officials are functioning.

C.      Swimmers and their coaches will be seated on bleachers located on deck level for the tournament and the new west upstairs bleachers.

10. Preliminary and Final Results - Results will be posted in main hallway on the lst floor and behind 2nd floor bleacher wall and west wall of Natatorium (deck level) as soon as results of each event are known.

11. Pool Entrance - All swimmers and divers shall enter the Natatorium and pool area from the NE entrance.

12.  Coat Check Room - Swimmers will be able to check-in coats with an attendant on duty at all times during the three days.

13.  Locker Rooms - Male and female locker rooms have new lockers available to secure belongings.   Please do not leave locks on lockers overnight.

14.  Valuables - Coaches are responsible for making their own provisions to take care of valuables belonging to team members.

15.  First Aid and Trainer Services – An athletic trainer will be available for first-aid or other purposes to any   participant as follows:
Wednesday            3:00 P.M.  to 10:00 P.M.
Thursday                 6:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M.
Friday                      6:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M.
Saturday                 6:00 A.M. to end of swimming finals.

16.  Parking –Free Natatorium parking is available on the West Side of the Natatorium.  No parking permit will be necessary.

17.  Ticket Order and Payment Regulations
You can order tickets either by overnight mail or online

Only the coach designated by the State Manager can order tickets.  If schools have boys and girls competing, the maximum number of tickets has been combined, and only the coach designated by the State Manager can order tickets.

Contact the District Manager to obtain the School ID and Password.

18.  Swimmers / coaches must remain in the assigned seating area for prelims and finals, which includes bleachers on deck level and the new west upstairs bleachers.  No swimmers or coaches should be in the spectator stands during competition time.

19. Award Ceremony – Have the top eight finishers remain at the blocks for awards.  The coaches giving out the awards must be at awards area at the beginning of the race which you are presenting.

20. Programs - Please note that the State Championship Swimming and Diving Program price is $4.00.
