Brecksville-Broadview Heights wins 10th consecutive state crown

COLUMBUS, Ohio � Brecksville-Broadview Heights won its 10th consecutive team state gymnastics competition (13th overall) Friday at Hilliard Bradley High School. The Bees scored 148.33 points to defeat second-place Strongsville, which scored 142.43 points. Brecksville is a perfect 777-0 in duel meets over the past 10 years. The individual tournament will be held Saturday, March 2 at Hilliard Bradley High School. Below are the final team standings.

OHSAA 2013 State Gymnastics Individual Tournament Recap
Brecksville-Broadview Heights freshman Alecia Farina wins four of five individual events

COLUMBUS, Ohio � After helping lead her team to its 10th consecutive gymnastics team state championship Friday night, Brecksville-Broadview Heights freshman Alecia Farina followed up that performance by winning four of five events, including the all around, at the 2013 OHSAA individual state gymnastics tournament Saturday at Hilliard Bradley High School.

Farina recorded top finishes on the bar (9.400), beam (9.450), vault (9.900) and in the all around competition (38.350). Her vault score of 9.900 broke the previous state tournament record set by Medina�s Emilie Rymer in 2005 (9.800). Farina�s all around score also places her second all-time behind Rymer�s 2005 score of 38.600. Farina was edged in the floor competition by teammate Michaela Romito (Jr.), 9.700 to 9.600. Romito has won three consecutive floor competition titles, bringing her total first-place finishes to four.

Rounding out the top six on bars were Brecksville-Broadview Heights senior Jessica Matia (9.325), Mason sophomore Crystal Kratzer (9.225), Romito (9.175), Thomas Worthington junior Leah Carloni (9.150) and North Olmsted junior Kristian Nash-Carabello (8.900).

Rounding out the top six on beam were Chardon Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin sophomore Claire Spech (9.375), Romito (9.325), Solon sophomore Olivia Bell (9.325), Carloni (9.250) and Strongsville sophomore Nicole Pratt (9.175).

Rounding out the top six in the floor competition were Farina (9.600), Archbold senior Kinsey Smith (9.500), Matia (9.450), Findlay senior Alexa Settlemire (9.375) and Marion Harding freshman Ashleigh Lindsay (9.350).

Rounding out the top six on vault were Romito (9.700), Settlemire (9.675), Greenville junior Paige Keller (9.625), Matia (9.525) and Cuyahoga Heights senior Bailey Rosolowski (9.450).

Rounding out the top six in the all around competition were Romito (37.900), Spech (36.625), Settlemire (36.350), Lodi Cloverleaf�s Madeline Brandt (36.350) and Bell (36.275).
