DAYTON, Ohio Third-ranked Gates Mills Gilmour Academy overcame a slow
start to top No. 1-ranked and previously undefeated St. Henry in five

 2015 Volleyball State Tournament
Preview For the 41st year, the Ohio High School
Athletic Association volleyball state tournament takes center stage this
week, and for the 26th year it will be held at the Ervin J. Nutter Center on
the campus of Wright State University in Dayton. The divisional rotation
this year is III, II, I and IV. The championship games will be televised by
SportsTime Ohio. The state tournament begins on Thursday at
noon with the Div. III semifinals. Ninth-ranked Zoarville Tuscarawas Valley
(22-4) takes on No. 1 ranked and undefeated St. Henry (27-0). TV is in the
state tournament for the seventh time (first since 2010), while St. Henry is
making its 14th final four appearance, which is second all-time only to
Newark Catholics 19 trips, and owns seven state titles (also second
all-time). Then No. 17 Casstown Miami East (23-4) faces third-ranked Gates
Mills Gilmour Academy (24-3). The two previous times Miami East advanced to
the state tournament, they won it all (2011, 2012), while Gilmour has been
to the Nutter Center seven times and has taken home five state runner-up
trophies. The Div. II semifinals then take the court
on Thursday, beginning when second-ranked Chardon Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin
(23-3) faces #14 Lexington (24-4). Last year, NDCL won a state championship
in its first trip to the final four, while Lexington will try to accomplish
that same feat this year in its first trip to state tournament. A battle of
top-five ranked teams then wraps up play on Thursday when No. 4 Middletown
Bishop Fenwick (23-4) takes on No. 3 Plain City Jonathan Alder (27-0).
Fenwick won a state title in 2010, while Alder won its first regional
championship in school history last weekend. Four more semifinal matches will be
contested on Friday, beginning with Div. I at noon when fourth-ranked
Massillon Jackson (27-1) meets top-ranked Dublin Coffman (25-2). Jackson has
been the state runner-up two of the last three years (2012 and 2014), while
Coffman was the state runner-up back-to-back years just before that (2009
and 2010). Then in a rematch of a state semifinal match last year, No. 2
Toledo St. Ursula Academy (25-2) then faces defending state champion and No.
3 Cincinnati Mount Notre Dame (21-6) at 2 p.m. MND won last year 3-1.
The Division IV semifinals begin at 4 p.m.
Friday as first-time state qualifier and third-ranked Monroeville (26-1)
faces No. 2 Jackson Center (27-1). Both these teams had thrilling regional
championship matches, as Monroeville beat defending state runner-up McComb
(in five sets) and Jackson Center, back at state for the third time, beat
defending state champion Fort Loramie (3-0).  Then unranked New Philadelphia
Tuscarawas Central Catholic (23-5) takes on unranked Waterford (21-6) at 6
p.m. TCC is at state for the seventh time, while Waterford is making its
	first trip.
