COLUMBUS, Ohio After 75 years of determining state wrestling
team champions through point accumulation at the individual tournament,
the first annual OHSAA team wrestling state tournament was held Saturday
at St. John Arena on the campus of The Ohio State University in
		Columbus.

The Division I final, pitting top-ranked Lakewood St. Edward against
second ranked Massillon Perry, came down to the 285 lb. weight class to

the final match, Perry was unable to obtain the six points it needed as
junior Ralph Nichols sealed the victory for the Eagles, 28-21. The
back-and-forth final featured one pin in 14 matches, provided by St.
Edward senior Edgar Bright in the 145 lb. weight class.

St. Edward made its way to the finals after defeating Pickerington
		Central 66-4 and fourth-ranked Brecksville-Broadview Heights 48-15 in
the state quarterfinals and semifinals. Perry reached the finals by
defeating sixth-ranked Marysville 49-24 in the quarterfinals and
third-ranked Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller 41-23 in the semifinals.

In the Division II final, fourth-ranked Uhrichsville Claymont led
top-ranked St. Paris Graham 15-12 after seven matches during the final,
led by a pin from junior Cody Burcher in the 126 lb. weight class. After
the halfway mark, Graham took control, winning five of the last seven
matches, including pins from senior Bo Jordan in the
160 lb. weight class and Anthony Welty in the 195lb. weight class, en
route to defeating Claymont 36-24 claiming the Division II state
		championship.

Graham navigated its way to the state finals defeating Athens 60-12 in
the quarterfinals and Toledo Central Catholic 43-18 in the semifinals.
Claymont defeated Perry 36-22 and Hamilton Ross 48-22 in the
		quarterfinals and semifinals.

The Division III final featured seven pins in number two ranked Deltas
52-17 victory over eighth-ranked Massillon Tuslaw. Delta recorded pins
from freshman Jake Spiess, junior Christian Valentine, junior Tyler
Fahrer, junior Todd Miller, senior Seth Colvin, sophomore Mark Francis
and freshman Devon Richards. Tuslaw only recorded points in four of the
		14 weight classes.
