2011 'Be a Sports Journalist' Contest Winners Experience Life of a Sports Writer

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Greater Columbus Sports Commission in conjunction with the Ohio Scholastic Media Association and the OHSAA honored five students for their excellence in sports journalism at the boys basketball state tournament held March 24-26.

The program provided an opportunity for students to be involved with the OHSAA Boys Basketball Championships, giving a real journalism experience for high school students who are interested in a career in journalism.

The six winners were invited to sit at press row during the finals of the boys state basketball tournament and covered the four championship games. They also attended the post-game news conferences, prepared a story on their experiences and were recognized on the court for their participation in the program.
