The OHSAA represents its member schools by recognizing and promoting academics, the safety of participants, good citizenship and lifelong values as the foundation of interscholastic athletics.

  • A subcommittee of administrators and coaches from the Ohio High School Athletic Association and its member schools met on February 11 to discuss the OHSAA’s regulation on assigning schools to tournament divisions. Click here to read notes from the meeting.

  April 2008 OHSAA Board of Control Meeting Highlights

  • At its April 3, 2008, meeting, the Ohio High School Athletic Association Board of Control placed four more items up for referendum vote of the OHSAA membership that reflect changes to the OHSAA Constitution and Bylaws. This brings the total number of referendum issues to 17 (five Constitution and 12 Bylaw) that the OHSAA membership will vote on between May 1 and 15.

  Book Available On Former OHSAA Board Member John "Butch" Rossi

  • A book written in tribute to former OHSAA Board of Control and Southwest District Athletic Board member John "Butch" Rossi is available. Written by Mike Holweger, one of Rossi's former players when he coached basketball at Middletown Bishop Fenwick High School, the book in entitled "He Won The Game." It talks about the influence Rossi had on Holweger's life, has comments from people whose lives Rossi also impacted and includes Rossi's comments on his life in coaching from a series of interviews that Holweger conducted prior to Rossi's death in September 2005.   OHSAA Approves New Television Agreement With Sportstime Ohio and Time Warner

  • COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio High School Athletic Association has reached an agreement with SportsTime Ohio and Time Warner Cable to provide live coverage of its state championships in football, girls basketball and boys basketball as well as other events to be determined for the 2007-08 school year. OHSAA Commissioner Daniel B. Ross made the announcement following approval from the association’s board of control.

  New Requirement for Pupil Activities Applications from the ODE

  • Governor Ted Strickland signed House Bill 190 into law Wednesday, November 14.  This bill goes into effect immediately. All Pupil Activity applications received by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) after 11/18 requires both a current BCII and FBI fingerprint results. Updated applications reflecting this law will be available for download at this link on the ODE web site: Click to access application. The pupil activity application is the last option on this page.
