Kettering Archbishop Alter Wins Fourth Consecutive Golf State Title
KETTERING, Ohio- Led by senior Andrew Gochenhouer, Kettering Archbishop Alter shot a 314 to win the Division II boys golf state championship at NCR Country Club. The tournament was shortened to a one-day event due to inclement weather that forced a mid-round cancelation on day two.
Last year’s individual state champion Matthew Kreusch shot a 79 and was matched by fellow teammate Charlie Anderson to help Alter in pursuit of its eighth overall state title.
Delaware Buckeye Valley senior Sam Reynolds earned the individual state championship with a 72 on day one. Gochenhouer shot a 75 to finish as the individual state runner-up.
Buckeye Valley followed Alter in the standings with a team score of 316 to finish as state runner-up. Warsaw River View (317), Ottawa Hills (318) and Gnadenhutten Indian Valley (320) rounded out the top five.
Following in the top five behind Reynolds and Gochenhouer were Hayden Beaber (Indian Valley) in third at 76, and Matthew Marone (Poland Seminary) and Luke Stephens (Arcanum), tied for fourth at 77.
Girls Division II
Columbus Academy Wins Fourth Consecutive Title
SPRINGBORO, Ohio- Defending state champion Gahanna Columbus Academy shot a 317 to win the Division II girls state championship at Heatherwoode Golf Club. The tournament was shortened to a one-day event due to inclement weather that forced a mid-round cancelation on day two.
Columbus Academy was led by junior Eva Lim who shot a 70 to secure her second-consecutive individual state title. Senior Nala Chebli shot 75 and junior Meera Srini shot 85 to aid the Vikings in pursuit of their fourth state title.
Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy sophomore Sophia Fink and Cincinnati Madeira sophomore Ellie Hartung each shot 71 to share the title of individual state runner-up. Chagrin Falls sophomore Elizabeth Pollock shot 72 to place fourth, and St. Clairsville senior Olivia Baker and Mansfield St. Peter’s junior Joy Kim both shot 73 to tie for fifth.
Madeira was the state runner-up for the second-consecutive year, scoring 327. Behind Madeira was Middletown Bishop Fenwick (343) LaGrange Keystone (349) and Chagrin Falls (364).
