COLUMBUS, Ohio – Powell Olentangy Liberty erased two different deficits to come from behind for the 9-8 victory at Historic Crew Stadium on Saturday. It was the third-consecutive year the OHSAA Division I Girls Lacrosse State Championship featured Olentangy Liberty and Upper Arlington.

Upper Arlington (19-5) scored the first two goals before Golden Bears junior Berkeley Thomas added two more to take an early 4-0 lead.

Olentangy Liberty (22-1) responded with four consecutive goals of its own, the last of which came from senior Molly Brooks to even the score at four heading into halftime.

After a back-and-forth start to the second half, Upper Arlington senior Bethany Smith scored to put the Golden Bears ahead 8-6 with under 10 minutes remaining in the game. Smith finished with two goals and an assist while fellow senior Brogan Wiles finished with three assists to pace the Golden Bears offense.

After a scoreless first overtime period, Olentangy Liberty senior Corinna Hilmas netted the game-winning goal in the second overtime to send the Patriots home as back-to-back state champions.

St. Francis DeSales Rides Strong Second Half to Back-to-Back State Titles

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Columbus St. Francis DeSales used seven consecutive goals in the second half to pull away with a 15-9 victory over Shaker Heights Hathaway Brown in the 2025 OHSAA Division II Girls Lacrosse State Championship game at Historic Crew Stadium on Saturday.

DeSales (22-1) opened the game on a 4-0 scoring run before a trio of Hathaway Brown (21-2) goals from senior Emily Morgan got the Blazers back within one.

DeSales expanded the lead with two quick goals from junior Caroline Cross and junior Campbell Heald, but another scoring run from Hathaway Brown tied the game at three heading into halftime.

Hathaway Brown senior Anna Morgan opened the second-half scoring and gave the Blazers their first lead of the game with 9:12 to play in the third quarter.

A goal from junior Anna Bogan started a DeSales scoring run of seven consecutive goals to go up 13-7 with 8:25 remaining in the game.

Heald scored three times during the scoring spree and finished the game with seven goals total, an OHSAA Division II Girls Lacrosse State Championship game record.

Hathaway Brown scored twice in the final eight minutes, but the margin was too big to overcome as DeSales was able to hold on to win its third OHSAA state championship.

Hathaway Brown junior goaltender Charlotte Kleid and DeSales freshman goaltender Mackenzie Kitchen each made six saves in the contest.

Hathaway Brown was making its fifth OHSAA state tournament appearance and second state title game appearance. DeSales was making its sixth OHSAA state tournament appearance and third state title game appearance with championships coming in 2019 and 2024.
