Division I Championship: Lebanon 3 (28-4), Centerville 1 (18-14) 

Lebanon’s Early Two-Run Spark Secured School’s First Softball State Championship

AKRON, Ohio – Lebanon defeated Centerville in a 3-1 victory to win its first softball state championship on Sunday, June 9 at Firestone Stadium. 

Sophie Sheidler took the circle for Lebanon, finishing with a line of seven innings pitched, striking out nine and allowing one run on two hits. 

Lebanon burst onto the scene with a two-run inning to open the game. Sophie Sheidler singled to left, driving in Jane Leuzinger to put the Warriors up 1-0. Paislee Standberry also hit an RBI single, driving in Jenna Callahan. 

Sophie Abrams attempted to keep the momentum going for Lebanon in the top of the second, singling to right and stealing second but Centerville shut Lebanon down aside from that. 

In the bottom of the second, Hannah O'Conner singled to center field for Centerville but was left stranded. 

Sheidler doubled down the left field line for Lebanon but was unable to score in the top of the third inning. 

Chaynee Justice hit a leadoff single in the top of the fourth, but the remaining Lebanon batters were set down. 

Centerville cracked the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth after Jenna Kirkpatrick crossed the plate following a ground out from Natalie Carr. 

Lebanon added another run in the top of the fifth, making the score 3-1 after Stansberry singled, scoring Kennedy Jauch. 

Lebanon made a late push for another score with back-to-back singles from Jane Leuzinger and Ella Teubner, who both were left on base. 

Sheidler shut the door on Centerville with three-consecutive outs, solidifying Lebanon's first state championship in softball with a 3-1 victory over Centerville. 

Centerville’s pitcher, Caitlyn Belcher, threw for seven innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on 10 hits and struck out four. 


Division II Championship: Painesville Riverside 8 (27-4), Mount Vernon 6 (27-3) 

Painesville Riverside Held on Through Back-and-Forth Slugfest with Mount Vernon to Secure the School’s First Softball State Championship 

AKRON, Ohio – Painesville Riverside claimed its first softball state championship on Sunday, June 8 at Firestone Stadium by defeating Mount Vernon 8-6. 

The winning pitcher for Riverside, Annaliese Davis, struck out six batters through seven innings pitched, giving up six runs (four earned) on 11 hits. 

In the top of the first, Brooklyn Dovenbarg put Mount Vernon up 1-0 with a single to right field, driving in Rylee Myers. 

Riverside tied the game 1-1 in the bottom of the first after Samantha Granchi tagged up from third on a SAC fly hit by Madison Proud. 

Emma Wilhelm led off for Riverside, lacing a triple out to right center in the bottom of the second. Wilhelm was then driven in by a single hit by Granchi, putting the Beavers up 2-1. 

Mount Vernon bounced back in the top of the third, taking a 4-2 lead. Jocelyn Scarbury doubled down the right field line, driving in Hailey Rudrick and Carly Kennedy. Grace Bates then crushed another double, this time out to deep right center, driving in Scarbury. 

The next inning, Mount Vernon extended its lead to 5-2 over Riverside after Kennedy hit a single to right field, driving in Isla Graham. 

Riverside's Madelyn Kevern blasted the first pitch of the bottom of the fourth out to left field for a homerun. The Beavers still trailed 5-3. 

Riverside took the bottom of the fifth by storm, jumping to an 8-5 lead. Kevern doubled to right center, driving in Wilhelm. Olivia Powell also doubled to right center, driving in Kevern. In the third consecutive inning with a bases-loaded situation, Proud ripped a three-RBI double to left center, Rebecca Tornow, Granchi and Powell. 

Rudrick hit an RBI double to center in the top of the sixth, cutting Mount Vernon's deficit to 8-6. 

Davis struck out the first two Mount Vernon hitters in the top of the seventh before giving up a single to Brooklyn Cook. Davis then retired the final batter with a ground out, securing an 8-6 victory for Riverside to claim the school’s first state softball championship. 

Scarbury threw six innings for Mount Vernon, allowing eight runs on 12 hits and struck out six. 


Division III Championship: Dover 10 (27-3), Holland Springfield 0 (22-10) 

Dover Wins First Softball State Championship in 10-0 Run Rule Over Holland Springfield 

AKRON, Ohio – Dover secured its first softball state championship with a dominant 10-0 win over Holland Springfield during the Division III title game Saturday, June 7 at Firestone Stadium. 

Dover pitcher Jenna Molk mashed a solo home run to left field in the bottom of the first to ignite the offense. The Tornadoes added a second run in the next inning, when Madi Bantum delivered an RBI double to score Ariana Immel. Molk continued to make an impact in the third, roping a double off the wall in right center. She later scored on a single from Avery Contini, capping off three consecutive one-run innings for Dover. 

In the fifth, Molk and Alli Hupp scored on a two-run double by Contini, extending the Tornadoes’ lead 5-0 over Springfield. 

Dover sealed the win with a five-run inning in the bottom of the sixth. Immel drove in Sophie Bantum with a single, then Molk launched her second home run of the game—a three-run blast to left that gave Dover a 9-0 advantage. Contini hit a walk-off single to left, bringing home the 10th and final run to invoke the run rule. With the win, Dover earned its first softball state title in program history. 

Kara Lint earned the win in the circle for Dover, pitching four innings, striking out eight batters and allowing zero runs on three hits. Jenna Molk threw two no-hit innings to complete the shutout for Dover, striking out three. 

Natalie Slavin recorded two of the three hits for Springfield, putting runners in scoring position during the top of the second inning with a single to right field and doubling down the left field line in the fourth. 


Division IV Championship: Springfield Kenton Ridge 9 (32-0), Hillsboro 0 (23-4) 

Kenton Ridge Claimed Its First State Championship to Cap Off Undefeated Season 

AKRON, Ohio – Springfield Kenton Ridge was dominant in a 9-0 victory over Hillsboro, claiming the program’s first softball state championship at Firestone Stadium on Thursday, June 5. 

Ivee Rastatter took the circle for Kenton Ridge, pitching seven shutout innings. She surrendered five hits and struck out nine batters. 

Kenton Ridge took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Brenna Fyffe reached base on a 3-2 count and stole second, eventually scoring on a wild pitch.  

Kenton Ridge then unleashed a seven-run surge in the third, extending its lead to 8-0 over Hillsboro. The Cougars’ storm was fueled by Brenna Fyffe drawing a bases-loaded walk, a two-run double by Jayden Davis that scored Lily Foulk and Chloe Glass, an infield single from Rastatter that scored Fyffe, Davis scoring on a wild pitch, Sophia Shingler crossing the plate on a throwing error and Cara Cammon tagging up from third on a sacrifice fly hit by Kendall Massie.  

Massie tacked on another score for Kenton Ridge in the bottom of the fifth inning, extending the lead to 9-0 with a double to right center, driving in Cammon. Rastatter closed out the game in the seventh for the Cougars, sealing the school’s first softball state championship. 

Camryn Spruell gave up nine runs (six earned) on three hits in six innings in the circle for Hillsboro. The Lady Indians’ offense was driven by Isabelle Brunck and Addie Huff, who each went two-for-three. Rhianna Clemons recorded the fifth hit for Hillsboro. Brunck, Huff and Clemons were all limited to singles. 


Division V Championship: Wheelersburg 10 (28-0), Baltimore Liberty Union 0 (29-2) 

Wheelersburg Concludes Perfect Season with a 10-0 Run Rule Victory in the Softball State Championship 

AKRON, Ohio – Wheelersburg finished a commanding 2025 season with a 10-0 run rule victory over Baltimore Liberty Union, securing the Division V state championship on Friday, June 6 at Firestone Stadium. 

Kaylynn Carter pitched a two-hit shutout in six innings for Wheelersburg, striking out nine batters. The Pirates’ offense recorded 16 hits—mashing nine of them for extra base hits, seven of those nine for doubles. 

Wheelersburg set the tone early, erupting for five runs in the top of the first inning. The leadoff batter, Ava Estep, tripled to center and then scored on a sacrifice bunt from Mylee Jo Gleim. Catie Boggs then doubled to left field and traded places with Carter, who hit an RBI double to left center. Emma Smith and Jalynn Drake delivered back-to-back RBI singles. Smith crossed the plate on a groundout, giving Wheelersburg a quick 5-0 advantage. 

In the top of the third inning, Drake crushed a leadoff double to deep right field and was driven in by Makenzie Mullins, who singled to the right-center gap to extend the Pirates’ lead to 6-0. 

Wheelersburg added three more runs in the top of the fifth. Mullins led off with a double, followed by a two-run home run from Estep. Gleim then doubled and scored on Carter’s second RBI double of the day to make it 9-0. 

Wheelersburg added a 10th run in the top of the sixth after Lauren Truitt singled to right center, driving in Drake. The Pirates closed Liberty Union out in the bottom of the frame, ending the contest with a 10-0 run rule. 

The win marks Wheelersburg’s fourth state championship in program history, third in the last four seasons (2016, 2022, 2023 and now 2025). 


Division VI Championship: New Madison Tri-Village 6 (30-0), Sugarcreek Garaway 0 (20-11) 

New Madison Tri-Village Secures First Softball State Championship with a 6-0 Victory Over Sugarcreek Garaway 

AKRON, Ohio – New Madison Tri-Village defeated Sugarcreek Garaway 6-0, claiming the school’s first softball state championship at Firestone Stadium on Sunday, June 8. 

After a quiet first inning for both Tri-Village and Garaway, Tri-Village took the lead in the bottom of the second inning with a bunt RBI single from Tai Mize, scoring Camryn Osborne. Kash Mead then scored on a bases-loaded walk drawn by Emma Greer, raising the Patriots’ lead to 2-0. 

Garaway showed some life in the top of the fourth after Kayla Miller roped a double to left center, giving Pirates a runner in scoring position. Miller was moved up to third on a ground out but was unable to score. 

Mead hit a leadoff single to right center in the bottom of the fourth for Tri-Valley but was left stranded. 

Kyleigh LaCroix opened the top of the fifth for Garaway with a single to left but did not advance any further than third. 

Tri-Village jumped to a 4-0 lead, starting with a single from Greer, who then stole second. The Patriots added the two runs after Aereonna Baker launched a double to right center, scoring Osbourne and Greer. 

Mize hit a leadoff double to right center in the bottom of the sixth for Tri-Village and ended up scoring from third a few plays later off an infield single from Greer. Mylee Bierly tacked on another run after scoring on a wild pitch, bringing the Patriots’ lead to 6-0. 

Tri-Village pitcher, Elizabeth Poling, gave up a double to Garaway’s LaCroix but then induced a lineout 4-6 double play to end the game and held onto a 6-0 victory for Tri-Village. This is the Patriot's first softball state championship in school history. 

Poling threw all seven innings for Tri-Village, providing a three-hit shutout. 

Audrey Miller pitched six innings for Garaway, allowing six runs on six hits and striking out nine. LaCroix was responsible for two of the Pirates’ three hits, and K. Miller had the third with her double. 


Division VII Championship: Portsmouth Notre Dame 9 (26-3), Monroeville 1 (27-4) 

Portsmouth Notre Dame Wins First Softball State Championship After Defeating Monroeville 9-1 

AKRON, Ohio – Portsmouth Notre Dame captured its first OHSAA state softball championship on Thursday, June 5 with a 9-1 victory over Monroeville in the Division VII title game. 

Ava Rush took the win for Notre Dame, allowing one run on five hits and striking out nine batters through seven innings. 

Notre Dame took control early, scoring five runs in the top of the first inning. To lead off, Maddie Entler crushed a triple to right center. The Lady Titans capitalized on back-to-back errors from Monroeville to plate three runs. Audrey Bach followed with a two-run single to right field, Notre Dame a 5-0 advantage. 

In the bottom of the first inning, Monroeville tallied three infield singles from Veanna Helmstetter, Taryn Tyler and Avery Rosser, but Notre Dame pitcher Ava Rush escaped the inning without giving up any runs. 

Notre Dame continued to build on momentum in the second inning, as Alayla Soard reached on a fielding error and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Kate Entler.  

Kate Entler added to Notre Dame’s total in the fourth with a solo blast to left field, pushing the margin to 7-0. 

Two more runs came across for Notre Dame in the top of the sixth. Kennedy Lyon doubled to left and scored on an RBI single by M. Entler. K. Entler followed with a groundout that brought in another run, making it 9-0. 

Monroeville scored its lone run in the bottom of the sixth after Madison Reiber doubled, advanced to third, and came home on a passed ball. The Eagles trailed 9-1 and were held scoreless the rest of the way. The win marks Portsmouth Notre Dame’s first state championship in program history. 

Veanna Helmstetter started in the circle for Monroeville, pitching 3.1 innings and allowing seven runs (one earned) on five hits. Payton Weilnau pitched for the Eagles in relief, allowing two runs on two hits through 3.2 innings. Tyler led the offense, tallying two of the team’s five hits. Rosser, Reiber and Helmstetter had the other three hits.
