  • Qualifying Meet Window: March 27, 2026 - May 9, 2026
    • Rain Date: May 10; all results from meets on this day must be posted by 10 pm.
  • Final Top 50 List: Monday, May 11, 2026 | 10 am
  • Declaration Window: Mon, May 11 at 10:45 am – Wed, May 13 at 7:00 am
  • Accepted Entry List Posted To MileSplit: Wednesday, May 13, 2025 | 2:00pm
  • Heat Sheets Posted To MileSplit: Thursday, May 14, 2026 | 6 pm

State Meet Information

  • The meet will follow the standard order of events for 7th & 8th Grade Track & Field as found in the coaches and officials manual.
  • Three seated events will be contested: 100M, 400M, & Shot Put
  • Two divisions (Div: A & Div B) will compete concurrently.
    • Div A: All schools in the NE, C, & E athletic districts
    • Div B: All schools in the NW, SE, & SW athletic districts
  • An athlete may participate in a maximum of 3 total events (including relays).
  • No more than two (2) individual athletes or one (1) relay team from the same school can participate in each event. No exceptions will be made. 
  • All running events will be competed as timed finals following appropriate NFHS regulations for seeding
  • Performances from approved OHSAA Qualifying Meets will be included in the top 50 lists and will count towards advancement to the championship.
  • All athletes with performances on the final top 50 list can declare to participate on the MileSplit meet page per the timeline listed above. All coaches with athletes  in the top 50 are encouraged to declare, this ensures you place is held if those above your athletes do no declare.
  • The top 16 performances in each division, plus unbreakable ties, will advance to the championship.
    • Should ties within the qualifying marks result in too many qualifiers to complete the competition in the allotted time, the field of qualifiers may be reduced.
  • Entrée Fee: $25.00 per athlete-per event or $80 per relay team.
    • The OHSAA will invoice schools after the meet.
    • Invoicing is based on meet registration. Scratches or withdraws after the accepted entry list is posted will still be invoiced.

Qualifying Meet Information & Application

Any meet wishing to be considered as a “OHSAA 7th & 8th Grade State Championship Qualifying Meet” must adhere to a set list of minimum standards to ensure fair competition, safety and consistency for our student athletes. The meet hosting requirements & application can be found below. Please note that all applications MUST include the MileSplit Meet ID & URL.

The application window will close on March 26, 2026 at 11:55pm. After that time, please contact Sport Administrator, BJ Duckworth at [email protected] if you would like special consideration on becoming a qualifier. The acceptance of late applications is at the discretion of the OHSAA and all late applications will require a $100 late fee to be paid before the application is reviewed. No late applications will be accepted after April 19, 2026.
