DAYTON, OH - Winning its ninth state title, Newark Catholic defeated St. Henry in three sets (25-22, 25-23, 25-18) in the Division VI state final, Saturday, at the Nutter Center, at Wright State University.
Under first year head coach, Katie Hill, Newark Catholic (27-0) finished third in the final regular-season OHSVCA coaches poll. This was Newark's 23rd appearance in the state tournament and 12th in the state championship game.
Senior Natalie Harrington led all players with 10 kills and 20 digs. The Green Wave as a team combined for eight total blocks.
St. Henry (23-6) finished second in the final regular-season OHSVCA coaches poll. Senior Morgan Baumer led the team with 17 digs and freshman Kylie Bollenbacher led St. Henry with nine kills. This was St. Henry's 17th appearance in the state tournament, having won seven state championships and a six-time runner-up.
Calvert Defeats Monroeville To Win Third State Championship
DAYTON, OH - Tiffin Calvert took down Monroeville in three sets (25-13, 25-9, 25-11) in the Division VII state final, Saturday, at the Nutter Center, at Wright State University.
Calvert (29-0) finished first in the final regular-season OHSVCA coaches poll. The Senecas were previously crowned state champions back in 2018 and 2020, in which they went 28-0. Led by head coach, Lori Rombach, this is Calvert's third consecutive year making the state championship final.
Junior Bella Borgio led all players with seven aces, the second most by an individual player in a three-set match, in state tournament history. Senior Claire Schoenberger led the match with 16 digs.
Monroeville (25-3) finished fifth in the final regular-season OHSVCA coaches poll, winning 23 straight to make the state championship final. Senior Madi Reiber led the Eagles with eight kills and junior Addison Homan coralling a team-high 12 digs.
Monroeville has made the state tournament in six of the past 11 seasons, finishing as a runner-up in 2022.
Cincinnati Archbishop McNicholas Wins First State Title
DAYTON, OH - Cincinnati Archbishop McNicholas defeated Delaware Buckeye Valley in three sets (25-10, 25-22, 25-15) in the Division IV state final Saturday at the Nutter Center at Wright State University.
In the final regular-season OHSVCA coaches poll Archbishop McNicholas (27-2) was ranked first.
The Rockets made its second appearance in the state tournament after taking home the runner-up trophy in 2023. Junior Savanna Sacey had 12 kills and senior Sarah Hutchinson had 10. Archbishop McNicholas had 12 team blocks.
This year marks Buckeye Valley's (25-4) first appearance and first title in the state tournament. The Barons were led in scoring by Alia Schoonover with 14 kills.
Cincinnati Seton Finishes Undefeated Season for Back-to-Back State Championships
DAYTON, OH - Cincinnati Seton took home its eighth state championship trophy after defeating Mentor in three sets (25-23, 25-18, 25-15) in the Division I state final at the Nutter Center at Wright State University.
Seton (28-0), the defending Division I State Champion, was ranked first in the final regular-season OHSVCA coaches poll.
The Saints were led in scoring by senior Nattie Slusher with 16 kills. Senior Kirsten Kemper had 19 assists.
Mentor (22-6) takes home its second state runner-up trophy (1998). The Cardinals were led in scoring by senior duo Melody Garrett and Kayden McKinney with 10 kills each. Junior Addi Keeper had 16 assists.
Tippecanoe Takes Down Bloom-Carroll To Win First State Championship
DAYTON, OH - Tipp City Tippecanoe defeated Carroll Bloom-Carroll in four sets (25-19, 25-22, 24-26, 25-10) to win the Division III state final, Saturday evening, at the Nutter Center, at Wright State University.
Tippecanoe (29-0) finished eighth in the final regular-season OHSVCA coaches poll. The Red Devils have made four tournament appearances, with the last coming in 2020 and runner-up in 1992. Tippecanoe finishes the season as unbeaten state champions, marking the 44th time that accomplishment has been completed in OHSAA Volleyball history.
The Red Devils won a pivotal second set, 25-22, that saw six tie scores and four lead changes.
Sophomore Abby Mader finished with 20 kills, a game high, with her senior teammate, Savannah Clawson right behind, collecting 17 kills. The Red Devils only dropped four sets the entire season.
Bloom-Carroll (27-2) finished second in the final regular-season OHSVCA coaches poll. This was the second state tournament appearance for the Bulldogs, with the previous trip coming back in 2012. Bloom-Carroll secured 27 wins this season, a school record.
Bloom-Carroll fought off a late comeback attempt from the Red Devils in a tight third set, winning, 26-24.
Senior Sylvia Haughn led the Bulldogs with 13 kills, while senior Sienna Hogue notched a team high, 12 digs. The Bulldogs finished the match with 11 total team blocks.
Mentor Lake Catholic Wins Fourth Straight State Championship
DAYTON, OH - Mentor Lake Catholic defeated New Lexington in four sets (25-20, 25-10, 23-25, 25-14) on Friday during the Division V state final at the Nutter Center at Wright State University.
Lake Catholic (19-10) takes home its fourth straight state championship, the third longest streak in OHSAA girls volleyball history for consecutive state championships. This is the fifth state championship for the Cougars.
Junior Ahnna Bergant had a game-high 23 kills. Senior Ava Starr had 48 assists and sophomore Lola Loncar had five service aces.
New Lexington (26-3) made its first appearance in the state tournament. Panthers seniors Chloe Dick had 11 kills and Jorja Burkhart had 26 assists.
