Girls State Tournament Recap
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Massillon Perry had just three state qualifiers, but all three earned spots atop the awards podium to lead the program to its first team championship March 13-15 at Ohio State. 
 
With 83 points, the Panthers won the fourth OHSAA-sanctioned event as Harrison was runner-up (71), two-time defending champion Olentangy Orange (70.5) finished third, and Marysville (59) and Gahanna Lincoln (47.5) rounded out the top five. Winning titles for Perry were juniors Mia Forberg (105) and Emma Shephard (140) and sophomore Carolyn Geckler (130). Forberg pinned Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit freshman Isabella Thiel in 5 minutes, 41 seconds, Shephard edged Columbus Bishop Hartley senior Nora Johnson 15-11, and Geckler pinned Cincinnati Oak Hills freshman Eleanor Polking in 1:47 in their state finals. 

Steubenville junior Talea Guntrum remains on track to become the first four-time OHSAA-sanctioned state champion after pinning United senior Auston Brown in 2:53 to win the championship at 135 and finish the season at 45-0. She won state titles in each of her first two seasons at 120. 
 
Loveland senior Elizabeth Madison also finished unbeaten, and with a third state championship, as she pinned Austintown Fitch sophomore Reghan Koch in 1:24 in the state final at 170. 
 
Geckler, who won state at 115 a year ago, was one of six competitors to leave with their second titles. 
 
Berea-Midpark senior Deionna Borders closed out her career by going 38-0 this season, including pinning Archbold senior Gabby Oregon in 3:17 in the final at 235 to defend her title.  
 
Mount Vernon junior Ashlynn Brokaw defended her championship at 110, beating Warren sophomore Emma Gorrell 13-4 to finish 44-2. 
Doylestown Chippewa junior Kayla Moroschan, who won state as a freshman at 120, pinned East Liverpool junior Paige Cowen in 1:59 to finish 51-1 in the title match at 125. 
 
Gahanna junior KyLee Tibbs pinned Archbold sophomore Vivienne Legato in 2:42 to win the title at 155 and finish 44-2 after she won the title at 140 a year ago. 
 
Another who closed their season as an undefeated champion is Tinora senior Bella Graziani, who pinned East Cleveland Shaw junior Aniya Polk in 3:08 to finish 40-0 and win her first title at 100 after being the runner-up a year ago. 
 
Earning the first individual championship from Orange was junior Mackenzie Carder (120), who beat Marysville junior Cami Leng 14-4 to finish 46-2. 
 
Port Clinton senior Michaela Stork, who won a state title in track and field last spring in the discus, pinned Carrollton junior Riley Alborn in 1:54 to win the title at 190 and finish 39-4. 
 
Ashland Crestview junior Naomi Gearheart edged Jonathan Alder freshman Reese Thomas 12-11 in the title bout at 145, giving her a final record of 47-3. 
 
The only freshman to win a state title was Barnesville's Ladyn Hines, who beat Morrow Little Miami freshman Kaylee Vera 4-1 in the final at 115 to finish 39-4.
