Boys Division I
Ashland Claims First Bowling State Title; Zachary Mayne Wins Individual Title
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ashland claimed its first bowling state title by defeating Boardman 3-0 in the championship match of the 2025 Division I Boys State Tournament at H.P. Lanes in Columbus on Saturday. The Arrows topped the Spartans (212-235-263 to 191-212-224) in the championship match.
 
In its seventh state tournament appearance, Ashland entered the eight-team bracket as the third seed. The Arrows went 8-2 over the course of their championship run, knocking out Beavercreek in the semifinal round 3-2 (236-217-244-225-246 to 206-222-219-245-235) to face Boardman in the championship. During the qualifying rounds Ashland’s junior Max Oeken placed third with a total score of 727 (233-258-236).
 
Boardman reached the state tournament for the third time, gaining runner-up for the first time.
 
Parma Padua Franciscan freshman Zachary Mayne captured the individual state title by making history. With a total score of 858 (279-279-300), Mayne set a record for the highest score in a three-game series. Beavercreek senior Justin Terpenning gained runner-up with a total score of 739 (256-236-247).
 
Girls Division I
Vandalia Butler Claims First Bowling State Title; Haylee Yelton Wins Individual Title
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Vandalia Butler claimed its first bowling state title by defeating Massillon Perry 3-1 in the championship match of the 2025 Division I Girls State Tournament at H.P. Lanes in Columbus on Friday. The Aviators defeated the Panthers (145-205-212-222 to 159-194-162-216) in the championship match.
 
In its fourth state tournament appearance, Butler entered the eight-team bracket as the top-seeded team. The Aviators went 9-5 over the course of their championship run, battling with Celina in the semifinal round 3-2 (159-198-164-191-201 to 211-172-206-170-179) to face Massillon Perry in the championship. During the qualifying rounds Butler junior Elizabeth Koewler placed eighth with  total score of 632 (192-185-255).
 
Massillon Perry reached the state tournament for the 13th time, gaining runner-up for the first time.
 
Bellefontaine senior Haylee Yelton captured the individual state title with a total score of 699 (221-213-265). Medina Highland sophomore Gracie Dunne gained runners-up with a total score of 676 (259-203-214).
 
Girls Division II
Urbana Wins First State Title, Napolean junior Arianna Kiessling Wins Individual Title
COLUMBUS, OH - Urbana won the 2025 OHSAA Division II Girls Bowling State Championship Saturday at H.P Lanes. This is Urbana’s first state championship title.
 
The Hillclimbers (141-192-128-170)  won 3-1 over Fairport Harbor Fairport Harding (135-148-192-169) who received runner-up. Leading Urbana was junior Emily Fisher, who scored 666 and placed third (256-168-242), and senior Jazmyn Scott, who scored 650 points total (213-194-243) and placed sixth.
 
Napolean junior Arianna Kiessling won the girls bowling individual state title, bowling a 703 (198-248-257), followed by East Liverpool senior Addison Rudibaugh, who scored 668 (230-171-267).
 
The top eight teams from the qualifying rounds were St. Paris Graham Local (3690), Bryan (3673), (3598), St. Marys Memorial (3598), Urbana (3554), Napolean (3526), Fairport Harbor Fairport Harding  (3443), Rootstown Harding (3428), and Mechanicsburg (3404).
 
Boys Division II
Benjamin Logan Wins First State Title, Mechanicsburg Christopher Ritchie Wins Individual Title
COLUMBUS, OH - Bellefontaine Benjamin Logan won the 2025 OHSAA Division II Boys Bowling State Championship Friday at H.P. Lanes. This is Benjamin Logan’s first state title in program history.
 
Mechanicsburg senior Christopher Ritchie won the individual Division II boys state title, totaling a 764 (233-296-235). Riley Milburn, Uhrichsville Claymont senior, placed runner-up with a score of 744 (235-209-300). Zachery Smeal, Rocky River Lutheran West junior, placed third scoring 739 (226-235-278).
 
The Raiders won 3-2, scoring 300-186-265-224-257, to defeat runner-up Marion Pleasant, scoring 166-194-192-257-270. Benjamin Logan was ranked seventh in qualifying rounds, Marion Pleasant was ranked fourth.
 
Leading Benjamin Logan to victory was senior Jarrett Buckenroth, placing fourth with a total of 738, and senior Landon Stoodt, placing 12th with a total of 691.
 
The top eight teams from the qualifying rounds were Coldwater (4456), Mechaniscburg(4295), Springfield Northwestern(4220), Marion Pleasant(4079), St. Henry (4041), Clarksville Clinton-Massie (3975), Bellefontaine Benjamin Logan (3972), and Washington C.H. Washington (3920).
