Upper Arlington Claims 15th Swimming and Diving Title
CANTON, Ohio – The Upper Arlington girls swimming and diving team won its 15th state title in school history at the 2026 OHSAA Swimming and Diving State Tournament on Saturday night at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton. Upper Arlington placed first in five events and totaled 310 points. Runner-up Mason earned 214 points.
In the 200-yard medley relay, Upper Arlington senior Abby Oliphant, junior Lexi Hartzell, junior Riley Hollingsworth, and senior Ashton Mumaw placed first with a time of 1:42.99. Upper Arlington also placed first in the 200-yard freestyle relay, led by seniors Kiera Powers and Ashton Mumaw, junior Maren Berg, and sophomore Ellie Snider (1:33.67).
Upper Arlington Senior Kiera powers placed first in both the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:55.92, and the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:59.79.
Mason placed in the top three in a total of six events. In the 200-yard freestyle senior Isabella Teply placed first with a time of 1:47.78. Teply placed second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.03.
Kings Mills Kings senior Maya Schweikert broke her own state record in the 100-yard backstroke on Saturday Schweikert swam 52.31 and received the 2026 Girls Division I Performer of the Meet Award.
New Albany freshman Samantha Petroff won the 1-meter diving with a score of 480.45. Sunbury Big Walnut sophomore Sarah White was the runner-up with 463.90 points.
Boys Division I
Columbus St. Charles Claims Third Swimming and Diving State Title
CANTON, Ohio – The Columbus St. Charles swimming and diving team won its third swimming and diving state title in school history at the 2026 OHSAA Swimming and Diving State Tournament Saturday night at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton. St. Charles placed first in six events: on its way to a total of 348.5 points. Runner-up Cincinnati St. Xavier earned 311 points.
St. Charles senior Jake Lloyd broke four state tournament records in his two individual races and two relay races and earned the 2026 Boys Division I Performer of the Meet. The first in the 200-yard medley relay alongside senior Austin Carpenter and juniors Will Liu and Caden Mahl. The previous record was 1:27.97, the team swam a 1:27.20. Lloyd then swam in the 50-yard freestyle, breaking the previous record (19.55) by swimming a 19.39. In the 200-yard freestyle relay the team consisting of Lloyd, senior Austin Carpenter, senior Alex Wu and junior Caden Mahl broke the previous record (1:20.86) by swimming a 1:19.41. The last state record that Lloyd broke was in the 100-yard breaststroke, the previous record was 53.21 while Lloyd swam a 53.06.
Cincinnati St. Xavier placed first in three events. Senior Chase Grisi placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:37.14. In the 100-yard backstroke junior Tucker Charles placed first with a time of 48.39. In 400-yard freestyle relay, St. Xavier sophomore Owen Gee, senior Aidan Smith, junior Tucker Charles, and senior Chase Grisi placed first with a time of 2:58.62.
Solon senior Mitch Caldwell won the 1-meter diving with a score of 588.65. Perrysburg senior Trevor Madigan was the runner-up with 552.45 points.
Girls Division II
Shaker Heights Hathaway Brown Claims Fourth-Consecutive Swimming and Diving State Title
CANTON, Ohio – Shaker Heights Hathaway Brown swimming and diving team won its fourth-consecutive swimming and diving state title in school history at the 2026 OHSAA Swimming and Diving State Tournament Friday night at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton. Hathaway Brown placed first in eight events and led to a total of 375 points. Runner-Up Gates Mills Hawkens earned 165 points.
In the 200-yard medley relay, Hathaway Brown junior Josephine Piliang, sophomore Catherine Dorsey, freshman Eva Hughes, and senior Sofia Jimenez placed first with a time of 1:41.69. Hathaway Brown also placed first in the 200-yard freestyle relay, led by freshman Eva Hughes, junior Daphne Vrobel, sophomore Rachel Porter, and senior Oma Agwa (1:33.67). In the 400-yard relay, Hathaway Brown senior Sofia Jimenez, junior Charlotte Duijser, sophomore Catherine Dorsey, and junior Josephine Piliang placed first with a time of 3:27.55. Piliang received the 2026 Girls Division II Performer of the Meet.
Hathaway Brown Junior Charlotte Duijser placed first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.66. Senior Sofia Jimenez placed first in both the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:02.75, and the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 54:42.
Gates Mills Hawkens placed in the top three in three events. In the 200-yard freestyle relay freshmen Ellery Losch, Mackenzie Duncan, Katherine Rosenbaum, and Leighton Lentz placed second with a time of 1:37.63. In the 400-yard freestyle relay the team, now with senior Nina Newton instead of Duncan, placed second (3:32.90).
Wauseon junior Kali Spengler won the 1-meter diving with a score of 442.10. Liberty Center senior Joy Brown was the runner-up with 421.60.
Boys Division II
Hunting Valley University School Claims Fifth-Consecutive Swimming and Diving State Title
CANTON, Ohio – The Hunting Valley University Schools’ swimming and diving team won its fifth-consecutive swimming and diving state title in school history at the 2026 OHSAA Swimming and Diving State Tournament Friday night at C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton. University School placed in the top three in four events and totaled 216 points. Runner-up Ontario earned 204 points.
In the 400-yard freestyle relay senior Brendan Sulak, juniors Jake MacPhail and AJ Iskra, and senior Paul Moody placed second with a time of 3:11.32.
Senior Paul Moody placed second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 48.45. Moody also placed third in the 100-yard backstroke (48.73). In the 500-yard freestyle, junior Jake MacPhail placed third with a time of 4:38.16.
Ontario placed in the top three in four events and broke a state record. In the boys 200-yard freestyle relay junior Owen Walter, sophomores Jack Rietschlin and Colton Montgomery, and senior Grantham Trumpower set a new OHSAA state record by swimming a 1:24.32 (the previous record was 1:24.47).
The 2026 Boys Division II Performer of the Meet went to two athletes: Oak Harbor senior Austin Sorg and Columbus Wellington School junior Jack Mahaffey. Sorg placed first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:38.32) and in the 100-yard butterfly (47.68). Mahaffey placed first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 48.38.
Columbus Bexley junior Jackson Monus won the 1-meter diving with a score of 549.15. Hunting Valley University School junior Burke Bebenroth was the runner-up with 447.95.
