OHSAA Boys Tennis State Tournament Shifts to Ohio State University
State tournament set for May 25-26 in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio High School Athletic Association has announced that its 2023 boys tennis state tournament will be held at Ohio State University’s Outdoor Varsity Tennis Center and Ty Tucker Tennis Center on Thursday, May 25 and Friday, May 26.

Construction at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, home to the boys tennis state tournament since 2016, will prevent the facility from hosting the tournament this spring. The agreement with Ohio State covers only the 2023 boys state tournament. The OHSAA will monitor construction progress at the Lindner Family Tennis Center to further evaluate its ability to host the girls state tournament in the fall.

“We are grateful for the partnership we have with Ohio State and our ability to host the boys tennis state tournament on campus,” said OHSAA Executive Director Doug Ute. “Both the outdoor courts and the indoor center are phenomenal facilities that our state tournament participants, coaches and fans will enjoy.”

Ohio State’s Outdoor Varsity Tennis Center features 10 tournament-style courts with permanent spectator seating along the baselines, while the newly constructed Ty Tucker Tennis Center includes six indoor courts and theater-style seating behind each court. The Ty Tucker Tennis Center, which hosted its first matches in 2021, is adjacent to the outdoor courts and will provide a seamless transition should weather impact the tournament.

Ohio State previously hosted the boys state tournament through 2015, except for 2011 when construction on campus moved the state tournament to Hilliard Davidson High School.
